“Alienware” Vs. Apple Mac Book Pro?
July 3, 2008
Hey all! Hope your enjoying your 4th of July weekend!
We here at Corpsman.com are always creating content for you the users, and this weekend is no different.
So you all have been following my ongoing saga the “Blackberry Bold Vs. Apple I-Phone 2.0″. It looks like we have a winner there. (Blackberry, but the bell has not rung yet.)
Now I am off doing research on a new laptop Computer for later this year. I am thinking about getting a Apple Macbook Pro (mac.com) and moving over to the “Grey Poupon” crowd, or maybe going to the Mod side and getting a “ALIENWARE” Lattop (alienware.com).
Both are comparable in price for the equal types of chipsets. The one thing Alienware has though in its corner though is that you can also get the fastest stuff out there, but pay a price being the first with the fastest chip.
MAC Book Pro runs “OSX” which can be partitioned to run both “OSX” as well as “Microsoft Vista” Dual Boot.
The Alienware computer will only be able to run “Microsoft Vista”
Breakdown on prices..
MAC Book Pro:
![]() |
2.5GHz Intel Core 2 duo,
2 gigs or Ram,
250GB HD,
17″ screen
all for $2799.00
Alienware Comparable chipset:
Area 51 m17×17
![]() |
2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SO-DIMM at 667MHz – 2 x 1024MB
120GB 7,200RPM (8MB Cache) w/ Free Fall Protection
All for $2890.00
So the Apple costs a bit less, which is great right out of the store. What Apple nails you on though is it is damn near impossible to do any upgrades on the system.
Steve Jobs, and rightly so, believes Apple should be the only ones working on their machines so if there is a problem, Apple can handle it. The buck Stops there. The problem with this is Apple is “HIGH PRICED” on anything they do.
To be honest, I think I am leaning Apple.
What do you think?? Comment below let me know..

Subject: GI Bill Comment
Are you insinuating that high earners don’t support the military and don’t pay enough in taxes by this comment?
(May 15)
Well I know we have plenty of Millionaire kids out there serving in the military. (HAH!).
They won’t support the military and they won’t pay for more taxes to support the military or the new GI Bill.
No I am not insinuating that High earners aren’t paying their taxes..
What I am saying is “High Earners” while loving your protectionism by us low paid “Service folks” are bickering about paying some more money “FOR” the GI Bill.
That is what I am saying..
Look I am not a Political Nut, really I am not, but the majority of the folks who are serving come from Middle to low income areas. The old GI bill as it was written, you cannot go to College in this day and age with what we got. You need a lot of help to do so. I just think with the sacrifices we make (And believe me I have given up quite a bit during my 24 years) I think we have earned a bit of help.
That’s all.
Thanks for the comment Chris!
